Since purchasing her Nikon Coolpix S220 in 2009, my wife Jean has taken up the hobby of digiscoping. These two images were taken at the Wetland Ridge Trail in the Niagara Region, in southern Ontario.
My tales of our birding adventures would be quite boring if not for images such as these two.

ReplyDeleteThe Cedar Waxwing is one of my favorite birds. I first saw one about five years ago when I moved from Detroit to the "wilds" of Mid-Michigan. These are wonderful images.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what digiscoping is. I'm going to google that up today. I'm a new Dslr user, one month, and I'm not sure I want to be tempted by a new technology!

ReplyDelete@Springman Thanks. I'm sure you have looked it up by now but digiscoping is the combination of a spotting scope with a digital camera. Not only has the scope helped us identify distant shorebirds and gulls it has become quite useful for capturing images of birds we see on our hikes and trips.
Nice birds! We've got a lot of those in Norway as well, eating berries from the trees in the fall.
ReplyDeleteNo to Bohemian wax wings. Although they have been seen further west of me i.e. Lake Superior. I'll look for them next year though because this is a regenerating forest.
